The biggest different between a pro and normal photographer is the pro will make less mistake and would have plan his/her shoot better and would have use the equipment better. Simply there are no second chances for some shots during a wedding. Now having that said, a pro do not necessary always take the best shots. Most time a snap shots here and there would have some great result. However, a pro would have produce a record of the event with minimum errors. Especially when in the film days. Now in the digital age, PS can do a lot. However, even PS would have require a good picture to start off with! My 2 cents worth.
