That is definitely the issue exists in our generation, post-70, post-80, post-90, post-00, post-10
I believe we can always study any where any time.
Going to colleges (well, universities you may say) is only one way in doing so.
Post-WWI, or post-WWII generation can also be uncompetitive if they don't study. (Well, if they are pretty much alive!)
If we are talking about communication skills, well I see lots of foreign students come to PRC who can now speak Putonghua.
Yes, we can find a lot of kids (regardless of whether they are Chinese or foreigners in our country) can communicate excellently not only in Putonghua but many other languages.
(I will have to admit that I am too old for learning Korean)
I believe the abbreviation, or cryptic "words" used by the major public media, forums, social and communication apps are the major cause of making local are not good at communication.
(Sorry, I always used post-apple generation to refer to the local kids having issues in communication)
Everytime I heard 是咁的 from a celebrity Mr Wong whom graduated from the university that you have mentioned on the radio, I really want to complain that radio station.
But on the other hand, I knew a local young gentlemen, whom graduated in Math from the same university, can speak 4 different languages (well, definitely including Chinese), and now is living happier ever after with his Korean other half in Seoul.
Is our education making us uncompetitive?
Or is our environment making us uncompetitive?
Or is our local government making us uncompetitive?
Or is any other foreign government making us uncompetitive? (Well, I believe some people of our country will say so)
Or are variety of our entertainment making us uncompetitive?
I believe these questions would be a good start in looking at the issue at hand. |
