導演艾瑞克布萊茲透露自己的製作初衷：「戰爭的長期創傷，影響處在高壓下的士兵精神狀況，我想嘗試給觀眾帶來一些無法解釋的感覺，並透過恐怖電影形式，慢慢陷入那種恐懼且無能為力的感覺當中。」值得一提的是，劇組特地選在保加利亞拍攝這部作品，導演也開心表示：「因為那里可以重新建造一棟1940年代的法國莊園，而不是在哥倫比亞找一個年久失修的豪宅，而且在保加利亞也能使用正宗的武器、軍車和服裝！」& B# p6 b7 }9 W. Q4 L
