Personally the only Barbaresco I have tried was the Gaja. I quite like it, and have interest to try other Barbaresco wine. Any further recommendation? In good price and good quality?

Gaja is really for the rich man, even their basic Barbaresco sell for over $1,000.

Gresy is one that I like.  They have distributor in HK but their mark up is a bit high.

The real value for money for good Barbaresi is from "Produttori  del Barbaresco". A single Cru Riservas from good recent years cost about HK$350 a bottle. Generic non-Riservas are even less.

This is a kind of co-op and I had the opportunity to taste at their headquarters when the Mayor of Barbaresco arranged for me and my wife to visit the region. The wines were very good indeed.

The Piedmontese were really friendly people and some winemakers had us to stay for dinner, despite I did not speak a word of Italian and they spoke very little English. They pulled no stops and had me and my wife tasted their best: Roberto Conterno did not hesitate one second to uncork a Monfortino 99 (this costs one around $5500 a bottle). Scavinos, Sandrones opened  their whole range and Fontanafredda even gave me some bottles to take home. Originally I was also to meet "the Professor" Mr. Giacosa, however it was around Christmas and he had a sudden do and cancelled our tasting at his domaine.

Definitely, though if I tell you the direct local merchant, my real identity could be revealed. Don't be lazy and google this.

Let me show you a slightly convoluted way: there are several UK wine merchants operating in HK and they have offices locally. The more prominent one is Farr Vintners. You pay about 250 pounds for a case of the 2009 single Crus. The problem is the shipping fee; if you ship 1 case only, it amounts to Hk$120 a bottle. But as I usually ship many cases back, the price per bottle drops to around 60-70per bottle.

Go to their website and find out the terms and conditions.

I did googled but there is no info about their dealer in HK (even their own website).  Anyway, if it is available in Farr then it is easy.  I am a Farr customer.

BTW, I think Farr charge $70 even for single case, as there are so many people ordering from them and they can easily find enough shipments to send in volume.

Sorry, you are more or less right. If you ship back 1 case only, it costs 80HK$ a bottle. As I said before, I usually ship back many cases, I have forgotten the shipment cost for a single case.

It is all on their website anyway.

For those who have not dealt with Farr before, they consider themselves a wholesaler and you must purchase more than £500 of wines  before they do business with you.
