I already keep a batch of film in my refrigerator, and  complained by my wife from time to time

Since many pros and movies still use film, I don't think they will be out just yet!! But serious down size is a must!! Will have to wait and see la!!

It depends on anyone willing to take over Kodak and continuous the film business.
Yes, there are still some film demanding in the market, but is film business profitable?

The worst case is: nobody want to take over Kodak. Because film production don't profit!
And Kodak goes into bankruptcy...
In this case, all film factories will be stopped immediately!

regards to the films industry, you are mostly correct. However, Kodak is much more then just a film company. Their imaging technology is used by many branded company included Sony. The medical and military area also use their products and technology so for them go out of business, it will be a while but breaking down into smaller companies and selling off some of the low profit business and restructure the company may take place much sooner.

But regards to film, I too agree it will become a thing of the pass soon!

Kodak is in trouble but not going bankrupt, at least not yet.  It's rumored to file for Chapter 11 which is a common procedure before corporate re-structuring.

I believe it could be spinned off to different, independent companies the way Leitz was split into Leica Geosystems, Microsystems and Camera.

Kodak may not make film anymore, the way Konica-Minolta survives without their photo division.

BTW, Ricoh just bought Pentax Imaging from Hoya.

Kodak is just too big to hang in the market today, look at the way how Ilford survive...

so the result is same, no more Kodak film in the market soon

film is one thing, their chemicals are what i concern. cheap and very good quality! sigh...

Good thing about Kodak chemicals is that it works so well with other brands of films and so far there are at least 4,5 companies still making it.
