ADSL goes to a router, not a hub. You can have a router with wireless capability, so it will take care of both wired and wireless connection needs in one area of the house. A side note, if you want the wireless devices to see your wired devices, or wise versa, bridge the two networks. Otherwise, leave them unabridged.
On the other end of your home plug, you can have any combination of connections. You can have the wireless home plug, but the capacity is rather limited. What if you want to connect your TV and/or bluray player with Internet connection (I would skip the wireless adapter that some TVs and bluray players provide. Too damn slow on a wireless network), and/or a home theater PC, your mobile devices, etc.? I will let the wireless home plug to take care of the wireless connections by setting it up as an access point. But it should have at least one Ethernet connector so that you can connect a switch. You will need a 4ports gigabyte switch, or a 8 port one if you have more stuff. |
